Day 20 - Tuesday 18th July
Family History - The Gair Tima & Hilary & Gordon
Weather: Turned to a drizzly rain this afternoon.
After lunch at 1:30 pm we headed out to The Gair down in Ettrick Valley where we were to meet Chris & Karina who now owned The Gair. We got there just after 3:00 pm -
The barn next door, where David Boadbent lives, has now been named "Stairlaw". Marion met us at the gate and went to fetch Karina. She soon arrived with Chris and opened the gate and walked us down over the bridge over The Tima Water -
From there we walked up to the house and into the porch and turned right into the kitchen -
What a transformation from the last time we were in here in 2018 -
Karina then took us on a little tour of the house as it is now -
... and down passed the bathroom
We had a good chat and then Karina suggested that we go outside and up the hill behind the house to get a view of The Gair from above, so off we went round the side -
... and around the back
... up the track -
... and got a splendid view from the top -
Just beside this were the solar panels and Internet aerial -
All too son we had to be on our way -
... and off to the Cross Keys pub at EttrickBridge -
where we had dinner with Hilary & Gordon from Yarrow Feus -
We had a good catch up there.
